Book Now - Island Life full day wildlife and landscape experience

This full day tour is our signature experience which combines a range of wildlife encounters, some north and south coast landscapes, and an elegant barbecue at a private camp in the bush. The tour has a minimum of two and a maximum of twelve guests and two guides once numbers exceed six guests.

Welcome to Island life - where things take time, drivers wave as they go by - or even stop for a chat.

Have a cuppa with some home-made treats before taking a walk down a country track through tall Eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead or wake briefly for a feed. Listen for the sounds of the bush - brightly coloured honeyeaters and brilliant parrots, cicadas or perhaps just the sound of silence. Travel through the Island's most productive country to the north coast.

Walk through the bush with your guide - through strangely shaped trees learning what makes that noise, whose tracks are those, and who left THAT little pile there? Look for small wallabies almost extinct on the mainland, a kangaroo found only on Kangaroo Island and a variety of other birds, plants and animals.

Break for lunch at a private bush camp and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting (local sea fish), fresh salads and fine South Australian wines.

At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach - an experience similar to that of the Galapagos. Watch pups nursing or playing in the surf, see old bulls bearing the scars of territorial disputes and learn about their unique breeding biology.

Home-baked morning tea served with traditional Australian treats; alfresco lunch with a choice of local wines, beer, soft drinks and spring water; access to field guides, binoculars and maps; and all necessary National Parks fees.

Average Duration: 1 Day

Dress Code

We recommend enclosed footwear suitable for walking on unpaved natural surfaces. Long trousers are recommended for walking through the bush as is layered clothing and sun-protection year-round (hat/sun-block/long sleeves).

Weather Information

We operate year-round regardless of weather. Our outdoor lunch venues are chosen to ensure the best guest comfort on the day. On the rare occasion of an official "Catastrophic Fire Danger" day being declared all Parks are closed and our itineraries substantially altered. Kangaroo Island is a typical oceanic island - the adjacent mainland is often warmer in summer (Dec - Feb) and cooler in winter (Jun - Aug) but the wind off the sea can be fresh. Bring an extra layer regardless of the time of year.

Other Information

A 2 person minimum exists - we regularly accommodate single travellers on existing departures or transfer to another tour rather than cancelling

PLEASE NOTE: gluten-free, kosher, non-seafood, vegan or any other special dietary needs can be catered for but you must advise us at the time of booking.

Private touring is required for parties with children less than 6 years of age; those travelling with a language interpreter; and any guest who is unable to get in or out of a four wheel drive vehicle unaided due to mobility challenges.
